We call them awa awa (ava ava). Just like bonefish we fillet leaving skin on them then scrape the meat with a spoon. The bones will stay on skin and you end up with fish mush. Take the mush mix with green onion and watercress. Then roll into little balls roll in panko and fry. It's really good comes out like fish mcnuggets

The old boys I grew up around used ladyfish as bait for King Mackerel, Tarpon, Sharks but would never had taken them home to eat. I could tell your father wanted to spit it out. I would not have blamed him at all. Keep up the great job you do. Stay safe, stay healthy and keep living your dreams

Try to make lady fish patties!! Trust me, they’ll be more edible. Use a spoon to take the meat off, mix some seasoning and fry.

I know right where you are is spent some time down in Aransas Pass fished out there at night with shrimp and had a crab scare me so bad I walked on water lol it looked like a shark mouth when I pulled it out of the water. It's so cool to see you fishing where I've also fished.

Ladyfish are actually pretty tasty. Meet is moochie so it will need to be scrapped off the bone. Make some patties and fry them. You’d be surprised how good they come out.

With Trout i cut the heads off, gut it then scrape out the bloodline (inside along the spine) with my thumb, leave the skin on. Theres so many oils and minerals in the skin, imo it tastes so much better than fileting them!
