It is half the video, and I am almost crying. You are describing me, sensei. Every word you say is so relatable. I write a journal, my wardrobe and image changed so much people sometimes cannot recognize me, I do my homework every day (workout and watch videos), my diet has changed...
I would not like to boast, because I have trained a little more than half a year (today was the 101st training). It is like a drop in the ocean, compared to others. But I feel like I want to be a fencer until my last breath. I would love to be a fencer, even if I was the worst fencer in the whole world.
I know, I lack lots of things, like A LOT. But at least my attitude is right.
So, thank you very much for boosting my self esteem. Happy training to you, sensei, and all of your viewers ❤️

The timing of this one is perfect. I have just recently got back into action after several months of due to surgery. I sunk so low, and still am a bit, having lost a lot of my fitness and gone through months of health related stress. I've been back at class for three weeks now. It was hard at first, partly because I was out of practice, partly because I was worried about my surgery wound being split or pulled, but I got back into it, I'm doing well, and I love it.

On the point about nice workout gear, at a previous club, or grading day, guest senior masters would come to lead a seminar. 2 hours of hard graft, short lunch break, then an hour plus grading. I only had one suit. It would be drenched in sweat by the end of the seminar, then it would go cold and soggy when we stopped for lunch, meaning if I was grading, I'd be starting off in a cold soggy suit. The suits were quite expensive so I only had one, and even if I had a fresh one I'd just be soggy within ten minutes of the test starting, so why bother with a second one. Then one day I realised. Even if a fresh suit is drenched within ten minutes, I could at least start off fresh. So I bought a second suit. Then in the lunch break I'd run to the showers, get clean, fresh suit on. What a difference it made to my mindset when the test started. Sure I'd soon get sweaty and soggy, but lining up in front of the judges, in the ready stance, in a crisp, clean dry suit, I was ready for whatever they asked of us.

Another great message, my favourite thing you said was to take responsibility for your training. It's all well and good for coming to class but to neglect your own development it's counter intuitive and opposite for learning a martial art. Always work towards a goal, never be aimless, it's like going to the supermarket not knowing what you want to buy 😂

Excellent points and tips. In my experience with students quitting is unfortunately most people are inherently lazy. In my early days of teaching it would bother me and hurt me greatly when a student would leave. I finally reached a place of understanding. Anyway keep up the great work Sensei 🙏

Thank you for the formula 👍. It’s easy like 1, 2, 3! Easy to understand. Will take a lot more time to practice 😮

I bet is so many stop when they understand ex. karate takes years and years to master. So many may this idea that they learn to fight/defend in karate, which you will after years of hard training, but it is a side effect of your training, not a goal. Starting with "wrong" motives lead to quitting.

Hey
I have recently watched the podcast "you are a master" and I have came with another idea to interpret that quote
Sometimes we are so obsessed with getting answers from others. Asking them for tips and for solutions. Learning from others is great but sometimes we don't realise how much we learn from ourselves and only from ourselves. Experiencing and reflecting is the way we learn from ourselves and I believe that we have so much knowledge to learn from ourselves knowledge that no one else can teach us. So that might be an other interpretation of the quote. "You are all masters you just don't know it yet".
I'll be happy to know what you think - thank you
