This is sooo good. People forget that dogs also need mental enrichment too and this is exactly that. It’s not as simple as just taking your dog for a walk. They need to use their brains too. It’s great that she still gets to “play” find the IED even though she’s retired. I have a dog that is a therapy dog who I take to a mental health hospital and also a couple of schools, one with young autistic kids and a secondary school where we spend time with not just kids with autism but also other kids who might be struggling with something. It’s amazing but my dog seems to just KNOW who needs her the most and she will go to them. It’s amazing really. Xx

That’s great your teaching her to communicate with the speech tools. How many words has she learned? She looked like she enjoyed using the tools to tell you what she wanted. So cute, It’s lovely see her enjoying retirement with her best friend ❤

Nosework is an awesome enrichment activity for any dog, but I can't imagine a more suitable application than letting a retired, still healthy, high work drive dog have a chance to do their job again without any pressure!

She's still very poised and controlled about it, presumably due to her professional training, but her body language says she's having a really good time!
