Reading a ruler that measures in inches.

Reading a ruler can be a little tricky. What do all of these marks represent?
The ruler is divided into inches which are represented by numbers and then each inch is subdivided into smaller equal units.
In this video, I use a ruler divided into half an inch, one fourth an inch, and one eighth.
With a little practice you will find easy an inch ruler or tape measure can be easy.

I am 38 years old and kicked myself for never understanding a ruler. Thank you so much for this video. It's like a Barcode you read the whitespace, not the lines.

I'm trying to buy a skateboard but online it says it 31.6". What is that on a measuring tape?

Thank you for sharing this!
I understand it so much better.
I was always embarrassed that I couldn’t understand measurement.
Growing up. I was always yelled at or made to feel stupid, because I couldn’t get what they were telling me.
Which made me super anxious 😥
And in result, I would flub up more.
This was so much easier to understand!!!
Thank you so much:)

Thank God I found your video. I use the tape measure which is like your ruler ( 8 parts to an inch ) may I ask a question? The measurement is referring to the pot diameter and it says 6.9 inch. If I use this ruler or my measuring tape, one inch contains 8 parts, then what is 6.9 inch? Where in the tape do I stop? Thank you very much if you could clear this for me. God bless.
