i have been a contractor for 30 years, i have taught countless grown men and women how to read a tape. having to teach my daughter i figured i would find a more kid friendly way to aproach this, she is 9 years old, so i found this video. i wish i had access to this video on my jobsites. we would count it as training.

thankyou this helped alot. i was kinda confused so i googled how to use a ruler. I thought it was a stupid question but I needed to understand how to read the inches on a ruler. I always thought 5 and 1/2 inches would be 5 inch plus the 5th tallie mark or 5 inch plus the longest tallie between the 5 and 6 but I Just now realized the number didnt add up to 5.5 (5 and 1/2) which was why I looked up this question lol
