The potions professor, Severus Snape is by far one of the most conflicted and beloved characters from the Harry Potter story. The true tale of the former Death Eater took nearly the entire series to reveal. Snape began as one of the most loathed characters and a definite Potter enemy. It’s quite a stretch to think he started there and ended up being the man that Harry named his son after and he called the “bravest man” he ever knew.
There are many noteworthy moments throughout the movies when the brilliant Alan Rickman gave Snape his signature dry, and cunningly evil performance. However despite appearances, there were a lot of secrets and truths behind the facade of this Potions teacher. Throughout the series there were small cracks in the disguise of Snape as a villain, ultimately leaving up to one moment when we all fell in love with him. Some of those moments involved him protecting Harry secretly and refusing to fight back when he was being attacked. Snape was also a master of deception and successfully lived as a double agent, staying true to himself and the ones he loved.
Even though it took a long time for Harry to discover the truth, it was definitely worth it. This remains one of the most powerful parts of the story.The moments that we discover the real Snape and are able to see how special he is are some of the most memorable of the series. I hated Snape in the beginning, but then he became my favorite character when I found out who he actually was and how he was trying to help Harry and the others. Then when he died I cried so hard my mom even woke up. He was such a great character that when he died it hurts so much. It still makes me cry when I see his death scene.

The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning 'My regrets follow you to the grave' and wormwood means 'absence' and also typically symbolised bitter sorrow.
If we combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.He really loved lily deeply .
His only mistake was that he called lily mudblood once when lily tried to protect him from James bullying
