Some strange, but perhaps useful Lenovo laptops coming in 2022. Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 - a weird monster. Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 - an better take on the notch.

I would have one note open on that literally just for note taking with the included pen, i like the idea you had with the mobile emulator too

At first I thought the lenovo would be gimmicky but then when you mentioned the mobile development or documentations I honestly can see the massive apeal here. Main issue with us as developer is we cannot really work on a notebook because having 1 screen instead of 2 really slows down our workflow, but having that extra display makes it a truly portable developer machine.

I totally get your point, but you got something wrong, the first touch bar Lenovo introduced was with the thinkpad carbon X1generation 2. Long before Apple did it "but it was also crap"

If they install an intel chip under the second screen it could be used as a food warming zone.

I wish that 16:10 was the accepted size lol I have a few old monitors I cling onto because everyone switched to 16:9. I use an X1 Extreme for any windows work and even though it has a nice 4k screen the extra pixels of 16:10 would be nice, here's hoping :) That said I'll probably pick up the next x1 end of year, it looks pretty good. Stuck on the 16" Mac until someone comes out with x86_64 emulation. I see this new one as a toy, but your idea of an embedded emulator could be cool. Inverse notch sounds good to me!

Great reporting format - well done, and very interesting. …but as a musician I found it incredibly hard to focus on what you were saying with the music in the background. Just skip it - your voice is clear and not unpleasant to listen to, so the music only takes away from the enjoyment of listening!

Would be interesting if you could do a comparison between the cheapest desktop PC you can get with equal performance as of M1 max for programming. I get the feeling alot of people are buying expansive hardware for nothing

The little screen would be perfect for unity dev when working on a portrait mobile game. Kinda limited use...

TrackPoint without physical buttons was such a bad experience. I used to have ThinkPad T440.

I am not a Windows OS fan by any means, but the thinkbook looks appealing.

Uh, thats an ugly beast, but agree that touch screen could be used for mobile simulator. That's a quite niche product if that was the planned us case :)

This might make sense the day phones are capable enough to replace all the internals of a laptop/desktop. A giant battery instead of all the computing hardware under the keyboard tray, and a slot to drop your phone into or plug in giving you a laptop would be a lot more compelling. It's the direction I believe things are going towards. One device, and several peripheral options to scale up and expand with. Like having a Mac mini that fits in your pocket but with a screen and cameras. In cell mode only a few efficientcy cores are used to save battery life, then plug it into a laptop shell or external power, monitor and keyboard to unlock performance cores. You can already see the signs for it being tested in smaller pieces like with DeX, SoC etc.

Interesting. But who really owns Lenovo? Last I heard it was sold to by IBM to a Chinese corporation headed by the Chinese army? Makes me leery of the brand overall.

W t f is this design? Lol.. windows laptops are try hards. Most of these are just gimmick nowadays. Nothing can beat macbook's timeless elegant design.
