I'm sure the 12th gen was only released ~6-8 months ago. At least in the UK. I know because I bought it. Don't bother with an X1 if you're running linux. Stick to the X13.

I’m always curious how easy some laptops are to repair. My Lenovo z13 for example had an electronic tamper detection switch that broke and cannot be repaired by user.

Question for you. iPhones, iPads and MacBooks Airs can all play 4K videos on YouTube without fans not getting hot.mWhy can’t Windows laptops do this? If they can which ones can? All previous Thinkpad X1 Carbon models got hot and triggered noisy fans if you started to watch a simple video on YouTube. Why..?

They’ve come a long way some first launch. I got one of the first generation ones, shortly after ibm had sold their thinkpad division to Lenovo, and the quality was just awful. The trackpad creaked, even the logo was not straight. I’ve should have sent it back really.
