Someone explained that the sailor named drake didnt actually go through it but just discovered it, also the first man to go in it was Captain Cook, this was the only way that people can go to Antarctica which was believed to be a myth at the time.

I’ve always wanted to go to the Drake Passage because it’s what Sir Francis Drake traveled through to try and find the Middle Passage. After getting all the way up to what’s modern day California, he gave up and continued his circumnavigation around the globe. In fact, he was the first ALIVE famed explorer to circumnavigate the globe. Ferdinand Magellan died in the Philippines which is about halfway.
