I heard the bloop... live... it was terrifying and it kick started all my following research into underwater geography. Tldr:i still think a shelf drop is possible but who knows? Long story: I heard the sound off Hawaiian weather bouys, then Alaskan weather bouys, and finally again off the bouys near the Philippines. Best part was that the sound occured more than once, giving me time to draw up the active bouys in the Pacific blue.
Further research shows it might possible be a shift in the oceon shelf, loose sediment gropping furrher into the ocean.
What ever made the noise was big. Big enough to echo in the entire Pacific Ocean.

1 first sound was a baleen whale call. 2nd is a beluga whale impersonating a human. The 3rd is either a creature scratching the ocean floor or it could be an iceberg scratching the ocean floor. The 4th sound is a humpback whale like you said. The bloop is known to have been louder than an iceberg 5000 miles away. It’s believe that Iceberg can only reach like 2000 miles away. people think the bloop is the leviathan but there is still little known about it and it’s an unidentified sound anyway. So we really don’t know what made that sound yet.
