ABOUT ME: I’m a former Jehovah’s Witness who faded away from the religion around 2 years ago. I believe that current members of the organization deserve to be aware of the abuses committed by Watchtower. I am a big proponent of religious freedom and critical thinking, and invite my audience to be kind, open minded, and always stay curious.

I dated this Mormon guy and whenever we drove buy a Kingdom Hall I’d point and go “look! Your cousins!”
He didn’t think it was funny

This is a fantastic video! I was raised very casually Mormon and my immediate family converted to Jehovah's Witnesses later on. So glad to be free from both cults, and it's fascinating to learn more about both

Hey, ex Mormon here. One correction I have is that the salt lake temple isn’t the “main temple” it’s just the most iconic.

I'm LDS so can't speak from a JW point of view but I found your video impartial and pretty accurate in most places. You also done a really good job of lacing it with a bit of humour too. Thank you for posting.

The little sound effects make me so happy.

Mormons having the way more bizzare theology but acting like otherwise normal conservative Christians is deeply funny to me.

At time stamp 21:50 minutes the children sing about going to Bethel. The children sing happily, the music is upbeat, and it is called the happiest time they had. Of course, it is the only non preaching vacation a JW family will ever have. For JWs, even if they can afford a vacation, which most can’t because they are suppose to live “modestly”, giving all they can to the organization, they are required or requested to check in to the local congregation in the area they go to, so they can continue with the weekly meetings and preaching work which is to maintain their good standing in the organization. They are never able to get off the hamster wheel, which is a control measure for these high control cults.

a small point in the video, but the way you touched on the mormon heavenly mother opened my eyes. my mom always told me that we dont speak of her because if we did people would use her name in vain, but if that was true, why wouldnt we do the same for heavenly father? none of it makes sense anymore. i cant wait to leave.

This was very enlightening. Growing up in the Midwest there was never much differentiation between the two groups.

As a catholic tbh mormons are not that bad(there may be some) my friend is lds, she cool & me and her would always have conversations abt our religions & we would blow each other's minds from what we learn from each others religion.

They won’t show up at my doorstep uninvited. They do get nervous about the “No trespassing” signs in the middle of nowhere and a half mile from my house (which cannot be seen from the road).
We’ve had Mormons over due to a family member being one of them.

At least Mormons can build cool churches and temples and have nice sounding choirs. I don’t think Jehovah’s witnesses can do that.

Fantastic video, I grew up LDS (Mormon) and can see you did a lot of studying to get your facts accurate. the only thing I would say is in regards to the leaders of the LDS church. they see themselves as human and make mistakes often. not a lot of people think that they are infallible there are a few weirdos that believe they are mistake less but that is very few. other then that Ima subscribe because you did a fantastic job explaining a unique religious culture without bashing or degrading.

I was raised Mormon, served a mission, served in leadership and was married in the temple . Being raised Mormon was a great way to grown up. I think being raised JW is much harder and isolating.

orthodox christian here. Generally we consider neither mormons nor JWs christian because their doctrine is so divergent from christianity. Been enjoying the videos, thank you for suffering through all this for us!

I'm an atheist (raised Lutheran) and it doesn't bother me at all when the LDS missionaries show up on my porch 😊 But for some reason, the JWs make me livid and I've never been able to figure out why. I think it's because the LDS guys show up like mid afternoon to early evening and the JWs show up at like eight on Saturday morning. Anyway, great video, thank you!

At 19.54, you mention the beauty of Mormon Temples. The beautiful temple in Oakland, CA has a very unique feature: It is the only temple with 5 spires.

High up in the Oakland hills, this temple provides spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay area and I visit several times a year on clear days and nights. Watching 4th of July fireworks from up there is a special treat.
