0:00 D&C 102 includes the minutes of the first high council of the Church. In this section we learn principles for working with councils. Membership (or disciplinary) councils are always done in the spirit of love and to help the individual in the process of repentance and progression.
6:54 The root of repentance is change and to become more like Christ. The new Church handbook explains three reasons for a membership council (1) to protect others, (2) to help a person repent and access the redeeming power of Jesus Christ, and (3) to protect the integrity of the Church.
10:34 A Council is structured so different perspectives can be brought into the discussion. Revelation is scattered among us.
17:00 Councils provide a place of growth for everyone involved. Consider the growth that occurs in council members as they participate and carry out church procedures. Consider the growth in the individual who is being helped in the repentance process.
25:11 D&C 103 The call of Zion’s Camp or Camp of Israel. The Kirtland Saints are called to assist in redeeming Zion in Missouri. However, there was more to the journey than they realized. While the work of Zion continues even today, the trek to Missouri with its attending challenges provided an opportunity to train the future leaders of the Church.
32:34 Tyler shares an example from his work with future seminary teachers. Not everyone reached their final goal. The Lord may inspire us to pursue a goal, and we later discover that what we learned in the process was more vital than reaching the end goal.
39:18 D&C 104 The United Order and Church finances. Even though we don’t use this system today, the principles of finance are eternal: (1) appoint every man his stewardship, (2) recognize that everything belongs to God, and (3) help the poor.
45:39 Verses 57-58. The Church makes use of two treasuries to finance the work of salvation: (1) A sacred treasury for printing the word of God, carry out the work of the Lord, and prepare for the 2nd Coming, and (2) another treasury (verse 67) to improve the communities where they live.
52:19 Verse 78. Final principles revealed in D&C 104: (1) pay all your debts, (2) resolve personal finances to be in a better position to provide for others.
54:46 D&C 105 The Lord intervenes and Zion’s Camp does not have to fight. Zion will be built up under the laws of the Celestial Kingdom. The elders are asked to wait for a season so that it can be done peacefully.
1:02:22 Verses 38-39 “Sue for peace”, “lift up an ensign of peace”, “make a proclamation of peace”. As we continue our efforts to build Zion, we can mend bridges, forgive others, and learn to be peacemakers.

I appreciated Taylor’s comment about the importance of being aware of how we come across to others. Being considerate and compassionate of another’s perspective can help us be peacemakers.

I went through this when many years ago. I never felt it as a punishment yet i can say that satan really wanted me to feel that way. I am now a member again and am grateful for the Gospel and the Atonement. I know my brother Jesus Christ died so that i could repent and be rebaptized. I know my Heavenly Father has forgiven me my past sins and will always be there for me. I know this Church is true and I am grateful to my children for being such good examples to helping me come back to the gospel.

Oh how I really love this talk. I wish the courts could hear and apply some or all of the principles of the membership Council to our Judicial system. Prisoners would then be treated with dignity. The focus would be on rehabilitation and not so much on punishment. The chances of prisoners re-offending and ending back in prison will be minimised. Wishful thinking I know. I love how the Saviour has established the council membership. There is no ethnic profiling or misuse of discretion, it is conducted in openness, fairness and compassion. I love what Bro Griffin said about each participant bringing different views to the membership council table. Thank you Brothers G & G, and Brother H for a great presentation ❤️.

Thank you Casey for explaining about the treasury in Section 104. As a result of the Polynesian Cultural Center, thousands and thousands of young men and women have received a wonderful education from Brigham Young University- Hawaii Campus. They are now serving their fellow men in the Asia-Pacific area, thanks in part to this particular revelation. A truly inspired Church. I am thankful for your insights. Big hugs to Tyler and Taylor for your diligence.

Everyone is drawn to different methods of teaching and often there are just trains of thought that people seem to have in common. I have to say that as a convert of 12 years I was having some difficulty becoming truly immersed in scripture study until I located your channel and found these Come Follow Me videos. Many of the concerns I have about the world in general as well as my students always seem to enter into your lessons. I hope you don't stop anytime soon because I have just started teaching Seminary and have three more years after Doctrine and Covenants that I need your help with. 😊

I’m so grateful for the gifts of the spirit that Taylor and Tyler possess and share with us. In the beginning I search for the right one that I could study and go to most of the time. I chose you guys and it is because of your unique style, softness and gentle way that you help unfold the meaning of the scriptures that are very new….. and thank you for bringing on so many others that also possess the same gifts and talents. What a blessing it is to us. Thank you and God bless you in all your endeavors. Especially those who are behind the scenes that we don’t see..!

Thank you very much for this particular lesson. This group of sections was like, so hard to get into for me. I even had to split this lesson into two sessions for myself. I LOVE studying the scriptures and treasure your lessons and all of Book of Mormon Central. However, sections 102 - 105 was like a math lover taking an accounting course - ugh. Then my heart jumped and I received so very much out of these sections. Thank you for your perspectives and teaching. From my heart thank you!!!!

Isn't this exactly how Jesus lived? Even healing the ear of that man who came to take him, peace is so powerful; when I'm at work and customers are angry I find being calm and speaking gently to them quickly allows them to settle. It is so true that the Lord can never build Zion if it is based on lies, deceit or any wickedness - I saw this in a small branch - the Lord taught me this and even after 30 years, that branch remains as it was. The Lord can or will never use evil to do good - it is impossible. Love this lesson - meant so much, confirmed so many answers I've received about similar matters. Thank you again.

Thank you for once again helping me make sense of scripture especially when one is a lady and not a priesthood holder.
I also enjoyed looking at the pictures and comments you had about the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii right next to BYUH. Had the chance to work there for 4 wonderful years as an English speaking tour guide and enjoyed meeting people from all over the world, both as guests and locals (as well as fellow students) the people I had worked with there are currently most of them still there and I love them and grateful for them because each and every day we started with a meeting and we always invited the Spirit of the Lord to those meetings and discussed constantly how to improve and make the place better and the services better for the guests. I cherish that time!❤️ also very grateful we could go visit again with our three kids and show them where mommy and daddy worked as students. They enjoyed the different cultures and the new things and skills they learned there

Thank you for taking a "logistics" section and reminding us of the spiritual implications of counsels. I love the idea of God teaching us to become more like him through councils. Great commentary!

Thank you to both Tyler and Casey for your lesson and I haven't been to see BYU Hawaii university or visit the theme park next door. I love it when God is in control of our lives. He knows everything and I love it when I see why revelations came at the right time to help the church to grow. We have all the answers in our scriptures. Thank you for who you are and Taylor as well.
