This time I am adoption a baby crow that has fallen out from its nest. I am also doing bird photography with my good friend Bertram.
While totally comfortable photographing the woodpecker in the woodlands, I have no idea how to be a crow dad...
I have the feeling that this is going to be a fun and interesting journey, and I am looking very much forward to sharing it with you in my upcoming videos.

Enjoy watching and
See you out there...

All the best
Morten

A FEW QUESTIONS ANSWERED:
Q: Can the crow chick not just get back to the nest?
A: No, because it is still too young to fly and a crow's nest is usually very high up in the tree.

Q: Why has the crow parents abandoned the chick?
A: If the location was more remote and without a lot of people, the parents will usually feed the small crow on the ground. Because they are very shy birds, they will not do this with people around.

Q: Will the parents feed the crow chick at night?
A: No, because they do not eat at night. Most likely because their eyesight is limited and because the predators are mostly hunting at night.

Q: Is it legal in Denmark to take a wild bird and put it in a cage?
A: No it is not legal, and that is why the cage is not locked. The crow is free to fly whenever it wants.

Q: When you came back after doing bird photography - how was the baby crow?
A: When we came home, he jumped around in the tent. He did not want to eat though, and this was the first time I observed, that he will not eat after darkness.
He slept in the tent that night, and in the early morning, he was very hungry again.

Q: Do you still have Bertram the Crow?
A: Yes I do. He is sitting at the terrace outside the window as I am writing this, and I will tell you a lot more about him in the near future.

One of my dogs brought me a baby crow this spring. I tried placing it in a tree again but the nest was 60 feet up very small diameter so it wasn't safe. I started feeding it like you and placed in a building I have where it's protected but available to parent's through large openings. The parents found the courage to enter the building and so we both were feeding it. A month later it was out with it's mom and dad but it still comes every day for food and water. The parent brought me a polished stone as a gift!

I almost cried when you put the crow on the table so she/he could see the nature. You show that you have a huge heart for wildlife and nature.💚🌿

I found and raised a baby Satin Bowerbird (Australian bird). He was almost bald and hungry when I found him in the driveway. Dennis stayed with me for 2 years and eventually was rehabilitated back into the wild. He came back to visit several times including Christmas Day last year - 8 years later!! It changed my life and led to me adopting 3 unwanted parrots and becoming a bird photographer and general crazy bird lady. You are going to have so much fun with this little guy, they are so smart ❤

Wel, you don't need an alarmclock anymore :-) He will wake you up every morning. And he will make a mess of your dinner table. Just keep him indoors a few days until he is eating enough and gets used to you, and then slowly take him outside. He probably will stay on your shoulder the first time, and as time progresses he will wander and fly further around and get back to nature. Don't wait too long in giving him his freedom, otherwise he will get used to being a housepet.

What a beautiful story. ❤ Thank you for saving little Bertram. Morten, you would make a wonderful father to any living thing. ❤. How kind of you to consider Bjorn’s feelings too. ❤

We watched crows raise their juvenile in our backyard for several months until it finally fledged. The parents fed it most all day long and took turns. It was great to see what good parents they were. When they both went in search of food, an auntie or uncle stood watch over the baby. Incredible.

I have been following you for years and think you are a great photographer as well as a good ambassador for nature and wildlife, but by adopting this beautiful crow you just leveled up to my favorite youtuber! Our crow has been with us everyday for more than seven years and its an experience you just cant buy. It's a family member although he is 100 % wild. He is beautiful, very intelligent and a lovely friend. Every year he comes with his offspring to show us: its as lovely as hard, we have to not let them get used to people in order to give them a better chans to survive. Good luck with this fellow and keep the good work up! / Hälsningar från andra sidan sundet

Just shortly - one real thing. Once upon a time, in one city, many years ago, one crow literally saved my life. So, what else... ❤ Thank you, Morten!
