Logical thinking would be to take the fastest route to the airport and then park close by and spend the maximum amount of time with the person without any risk of missing the flight.

As an INTJ, rational thinking/behavior has always been the norm. I took it for granted growing up, that most others would think like I did. Boy was I wrong, and glad for the MBTI and similar tests, which show the continuum to be 70% logic and 30% feeling. I use logic for decisions and feeling for writing songs or making clothing (but still logic to develop correct sentence structure and measurements for patterns).

I'd say emotion isn't necessarily opposed or against logic, more just disconnected from logic. It's like drawing two random lines on a graph. They'll meet at some points, but the connection between the two lines and where one line goes in relation to the other isn't a reliable one. Sometimes logic and emotion fit, but under certain circumstances.

There is an excellent article written about this that I had found online.
There are many factors that a person can use to their advantage when making decisions, you have to learn to switch of one or the other depending on the situation at hand.
Logical thinking (rational) uses more energy and less people use it because of that, it’s basically the long road of a situation.
Meaning it will benefit in the long term.
Another difference is a logical thinker are usually people who have certain responsibilities to maintain as well as taking into consideration not just themselves but everyone involved.
Emotional thinking people usually only think about what they want the outcome to be and what they benefit from it.
It’s also short term (fickle) with a victim mindset, nobody wants to be around someone who’s an emotional thinker because imagine you don’t know what version of them you will be met with that day, they tend to be moody and unpredictable.
This also leads to rash decision making.
Logical decisions are based around facts rather than speculation.
But like mentioned before there needs to be balance between the two, emotional thinking is linked to your values and moral and your beliefs and can help you with making the right decision with the guides of your intuition.
To help balance the two, long term meditation always helps if done correctly.
Whilst meditating, observe your thoughts in a non judgmental way.
Don’t try to change them or control them, it won’t work because of the way the mind is wired, watch them come and go whilst being steady, this way you learn to take charge of your mind letting it think whatever thoughts whilst observing without have any reaction to it.

One thought I have is that science is rational and art is emotional. These are not necessarily one better than the other but rather two different perspectives to take on life.

I think it's difficult to view emotional displays impartially in my case. I do have an emotional life, but it is tempered by reason and restraint. When I witness others who allow their emotions to near-wholly dictate their behavior and perceptions, it often repels me.

I think emotional thinking has its own logic. There's definitely a "shoot the messenger" undercurrent to a lot of emotional thinking, like if you bring up the rational points of a plant-based diet, it's often the case that the arguments will be aimed toward discrediting the messenger rather than the ideas.

If we never had emotions, we would be more mature. One reason is that as decisions are done based on feelings and thought, we only have thoughts to make decisions.

Along many cruel jokes in the universe, one of the biggest ones is how emotions muddy up everything. But without them we can't even enjoy life! So really the ideal is somewhat of a balance somewhat letting go just trusting the universe/ trusting God, and just cruising as much as possible while still being alert- as super counter-intuitive as it seems I've lived a ton in an interesting life in many ways, and it's definitely more true than not-- even if deep down it might be metaphorical truth more than hyper-rational truth, It's what works

As someone who has a rational behavior of myself, it's furiating to have a conversation to someone who isn't incoherently open about you, instead they exploit different topics to the whole conversation making it harder to speak up with them.

Nothing good ever came out of emotional thinking. Logic should be the dictating factor in every aspect if one intends to have a happy life. Getting drunk and arrested is the emotional side. Logical side is when you see what could happen and choose to not do it. The world has problems because we as a society have started fluffing emotional intelligence than encouraging more logic and no emotions tryout.

The example he used for logic taking the fastest route didn't imply that they wanted to spend more time together, it wasn't necessary to bring that into the equation to show logic. It is only added into the second choice to create a variable to have to take into account. Apples and oranges. However, if we just for fun, assume that the first example did want to spend time together, then your reasoning of the logical choice to go and spend time near the airport would be correct. However, if you then applied that logic into the first example, you have now rendered your 2 examples ahead of the first example obsolete. You must now add another parameter to show the point of the video. It will loop forever with this reasoning. Keep those ears open my friends, logics worst enemy is misinformation. Good day
