the legendary Dr.Talimeren Ao from Nagaland was the Captain of this team who led the Indians to their first ever Olympics. so proud of Nagas

Talimeren Ao, popularly know as Dr. T. Ao. He was the captain of the Indian football team at the London Olympics, 1948. He gave the legendary reply with a wit at a press conference " Well, you see, we play football in India, whereas you play BOOTBALL!" T.Ao was offered to join the Arsenal Football Club but he politely declined. T. Ao completed his MBBS in 1950 and became the first Naga to do so. He died on 13 sept 1998 (aged 80)

Don't spread wrong Brazil was ready to bear the cost of Indian team they eagerly wanted Indian team to come as they used to perform really good at that time....as they were the first Asian team to make it to semi final in Olympic 1956 India refused to go to play because they were given very short time to prepare so they withdrew their name because they were still preparing for Olympic
