Technically, the sun has still never set on the Empire. For one hour (12:00-1:00 UTC I believe), the Pitcairn Islands are the only Crown colony which sees sunlight, but with them, the sun is over the Empire at all times.

What's interesting is that (unlike the Romans and Mongols) the British didn't conquer any other countries on their own continent. This map of their widespread global territories is largely a testament to the superiority of the Royal Navy.
