My grandfather was born in Rawalpindi in 1944 when India was not divided into two country

Well a major oversight that isn't listed is that British rule started in the 1750s and that those 100 million deaths occured across almost 140 years of rule.

Put into perspective compared to Mao's great leap forward and Stalin's purges which Mao's reign had death tolls between 30-45 million between 1958-1961 and Stalin had 5.7-7 million died between 1932-1933 on top of the 700, 000-1 million in the great purge in 1937-1938.

Doing the math under Mao between 10-15 million died per year and under Stalin about 3.2-3.85 died per year, British India had about 600, 000 die per year, although a tragedy it is incompatible to Stalin or Mao

For better reference the holocaust had 6 million died over the course of 12 years or about 500, 000 deaths per year. Again although a tragedy it is still taken out of context

Edit: I do not mean to harm or spread any negative ideals about these tragedies. I only wish to spread some more information regarding these tragedies and for them to be put into a different perspective under ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY not to prove that imperialism wasn't bad. Imperialism was bad

To be fair, the rule of the British Empire also lasted a lot longer than any of the others. It was still bad, but there is a grander historical context that makes such numbers less shocking when you think about it.

My grandfather was born in 1890s. He was born in Kingdom of Travancore which is not directly under British rule. My grandfather said it was hard times in the neighborhood states like in Madras presidency there are many poor people than here.
