How to take apart and clean your Fisher & Paykel washer.
***VIDEO IS CAPTIONED, turn on CC***

Fisher&Paykel appliances are made in New Zealand and sold at most appliance stores in the US. These machines are super easy to maintain and clean yourself. I took my washing machine apart with only a screwdriver - it's true. I was able to clean, sanitize, and disinfect the entire drum, inside and out. Then I replaced my agitator. It's working perfectly again - AND I saved probably a $200 repair bill.

Thanks for your video and easy to follow instructions. We are in NZ, and our 20-year old similar F&P washing machine is sparkling clean as new again.

Great video. I wish all washers make it easy to clean the drum and tub. All Manufacturers should take note.

Thanks, DeeAnn. That was by far the best, clearest, most helpful diy video I've ever seen. I'm ready to follow your step by step instructions now and service my own washing machine. Many thanks!

Love this video. Just a small pronunciation correction. Paykel is pronounced <Pie-Call> I'm Kiwi, and I will only use FP 👍

Oh my goodness this video started me down a rabbit hole. Was looking for videos on replacing stabilizer bars and the agitator. Let’s just say I had way more gunk in my washer then you did, about 14 years worth! So embarrassing. But, thanks to you, I got it all tore apart and back together. Not quite as shiney and new as yours but better then it was. Thanks for the video and the motivation. ❤️

As a New Zealander thank you so much for this video and I'm happy you love this washing machine! Being reliable as anything, they're an absolute staple in student flats and households across NZ

Thank you for this video. I’m embarrassed to say I never knew all those pieces could come out so they’ve never been cleaned before. I’ve always just cleaned the easily accessible areas.

You are awesome DeeAnn! I removed my drum too, except I pressure washed my drum. It was a lot worse than yours.

Thanks DeeAnn! Used this video to disassemble and clean my F&P washing machine and it’s good as new.

I don’t use a cloth on the inner bowl because you can see that these holes have been punched through from inside and they leave sharp edges which are like a cheese grater and they’ll take the skin off your knuckles very quickly if you are just holding a cloth

This was so helpful!! I noticed a rotten egg like odor when I run warm or hot water. Thinking I need to clean it, it’s like 18 or more years!! Can you please list cleaning products used, and where I can purchase them? Thank you!

As a 23-year-old who moved out only a few years ago, this is a really useful tutorial !! I never even knew a few months ago that there was a lint filter inside but it’s cool to know I can pull the whole thing apart

Very nice video DeeAnn and cleaner than the best repair person would do, but how did you not scratch the heck out of your fiberglass tub? The Fisher & Packel wash drum's drain holes in the stainless steel are as sharp as the tip of knives 🔪 on the outside. They will cut or scratch just about anything they come in contact with. Don't ask how I know🩸. You didn't mention that wash drum holds a lot of water in the base that doesn't come out even when you lift it out of the machine, that's partially what makes it so heavy and awkward getting it out.

I enjoyed and learnt a lot watching your video of Dis metalling, cleaning and putting it back together, I got the same washer, exactly 18 years old, i got big problem with fluff smothering my clothes, I cleaned the machine up to the agitator part but never cleaned the drum, do you think I have to do all what you did, clean the drum to solve my problem or is there any other easy way to stop the fluff coming on to my washed cloths.
Regards
