How to take apart a light bulb socket

He didn't explain it but if you want to expose the end of the wire you need to unscrew that little tapering bit of plastic at the base. You'll see two flat sides, grip those with something (I used scissors) and twist. It will pull off. It's crazy how unergonomic this fitting is!
