All three you described perfectly, I’ve been to a bunch of tactical events and only one living history event, kinda wish there were more public events

Bro I would love to assist to one of those events, sadly in México we don't have something like that.

We used to have reenactments at a historical village near me but hadn't had one in a long time and I wanted to see one again. So I started looking up reenactments and found a calendar. To my surprise, I saw this particular village and that there would be a "tactical event" going on there soon. Not knowing any better, I showed up.

After looking awkwardly out of place, I stopped a guy and asked him what was going on. He let me know what a tactical was and that I technically wasn't supposed to be there. I let him know why I had showed up and asked if anyone would mind if I hung around. He thought for a moment and said "Well, if you stay outta the way, I don't think anyone would mind."

Best day ever. Had to watch from a distance but just watching everyone have fun was fun for me. Got to talk to the 10 or so Russians that had showed up and am even still friends with one on Facebook (he sells a LOT of historical stuff, not just WW2 and he's an actual Russian, having immigrated after the fall of the Union). After the battle, one of the Russians was short one of the PPS mags he'd rented from the Class 3 dealer that was there and I tried to help him find it. Never did but I did amass one hell of a collection of spent blanks. .30-06, .45, 7.62x25, 8mm Mauser.

Sadly, the village has since stopped allowing reenactments on the village grounds themselves but every summer or two, a Vietnam reenactment groups shows up for a couple days and does an event that's technically off the property but right next to it.

If you sign enough waivers you could do it for real

Man, I really wish we had something like that here in Germany.
But unfortunately it's still a little too touchy of a subject for that.

My family (me included) does these for viking history. It's a hell of a lot of fun.

I always wanted to go to one of these or even be in one myself ever since I was 11 years old.

Could you imagine tripping on like LSD or shrooms and accidentally stumbling into one of these reenactments. That would be a real mind f*ck.

i'd love to see a ww2 veteran giving a feedback of how realistic it is compared to his experience, must've been wholesome

Those men and women were very brave. The bullets were bigger, everything was louder (no ear protection), and they wore only a helmet for armor... That takes immense courage, especially when 6 MG42s are shooting at you constantly. Bullets flying like a swarm of locusts. At some points, dying was better than the reality.

I think the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan gave a glimpse how f*cked a World War is. And people today want to complain.. HA!
