We were WRONG about SHINY HUNTING in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee!

It's happened once again, we were wrong about Shiny Hunting in Pokemon Lets Go!
The Catch Combo method was completely wrong, after all this time.

The best way to get Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee! About 3 years later we look back at the catch combo method and it turns out we had it all wrong once again. Dataminer Sibuna Switch has uncovered that the method only works on the next Pokemon that spawns which completely changes how we all should have been hunting in the old Pokemon Games... OOPS.

This came at the exact right time for me lol, I just picked up Let’s Go Eevee and I’m an avid shiny hunter! I feel sorry for everybody that was hunting with the “wrong” technique, proud of you guys for finding those shinies anyway!!

So after all this time, all of my shinies from LGPE are full odds, that's insane!

Oh my god. I have gotten like 40 shinies in lets go and I never once considered that method to be broken! It would normally take me a couple hours but I did remember times were I was like "How far over odds is this?" It all makes sense now.

Makes me feel a bit better about my method. I figured if I’m getting a shiny I wanted it to be as strong as possible, so I kept catching to get species specific candies to give to my eventual shiny. Guess it worked out in the end!

I honestly never paid any attention to the "stop at 31 chain combo and wait" method and I just kept catching. I found more shinies by catching well beyond chain 90+ than by getting to 31 and waiting.

Thinking back, I think I only found 1 or 2 shiny via "31 chain" method and oddly enough, they weren't even the species I was shiny hunting at that moment.

This explains why I had such a hard time shiny hunting the Kanto starters. I gave up and decided to breed them in Ultra Sun.

This makes the shinies in let's go a lot more valuable because they are now more rare than what we previously thought
Unless they were caught on that concurrent 31st catch etc..

This is wild. Most of my hunts have been comfortably within the assumed 1/315 odds and a few off-target so I never questioned that the boost effected all spawns. I guess I've had way better shiny luck than I thought!

I still consider the shiny hunting method in Sword and Shield broken because the boosted shiny odds *only* affect Brilliant Pokemon, and since Brilliant Pokemon only appear a maximum of 3% of the time it still means that the method is virtually unusable. If the maximum chance of a Brilliant Pokemon appearing was boosted to at least 20% that might make it a viable way to shiny hunt, but not at 3%.

I was always a bit suspicious of the 31 rule cos when I was like 12-13 not using yt I caught about 230 oddish and found shiny ones left and right and a year ago I started doing the 31 rule and I didn't get many shinies

Wait, so everyone getting a catch combo and then going to another area to wait for shinies to spawn was actually hunting at 1/1024 odds at best? And the catch combo wasn't doing ANYTHING???

I think we’re wrong in PLA too because too many people are getting “full odds” shinies left and right. (Looking at your 9 shiny Mothims you got the other day)
