My favorite part of that was that it made me feel like I came up with the idea myself.

The portal you shoot at the Moon has a delay of 1.26 seconds, which is the distance light travels between the Earth and the Moon.

Misses one meeting.
Okay. So. We're going to the moon.

The moonshot is possibly my favourite moment in gaming. I can still vividly recall the feeling of "No way, ! No! Way!" when I did this in the game for the first time.

The ending of portal 2 was brilliant. Bringing back a pivotal story point in a subtle but memorable way was amazing.
Valve does it best, shame they don’t make games the way they did back then.

That snap moment of realization that you can shoot the portal all the way to the moon has got to be one of the best moments in gaming history.

Fun thing, moon dust actually will very much kill you if you inhale it. It's sharp, tiny, and your lungs have no real defense against it.

I'm so glad they managed to pull off that change in script. The ending shot at the moon was just perfect.

I think the coolest thing about the moonshot is that it plays the continuous decompression trope entirely straight. Because that tiny portal is trying to equalize the atmosphere of an entire planet on the other side of it

Funny note about the gameplay mechanics of that shot, it is one of two moments in the game where the color of your portal that you fire does not matter, it will correct it for you anyway if you do it wrong.

You know... if cave had just thought to point a portal gun at the moon, he both would've won the space race, and had all the toxic moon rocks he could ever want

Adding a whole plot just to make a cool ending is the most valve thing ever

That was such an iconic moment. The moon appeared, and i instantly knew what to do, and it felt like there was no way it would work, and yet...

Funniest thing is, I shot the moon because I was like; "Wait, the moon is grey, I've been shooting grey this whole time!" and it was only when the excitement died out when I remembered the actual lore behind it.

One of the most memorable moments in gaming for me as a kid. I felt rewarded for listening to the story, because I thought it was so cool that all these walls were just covered in moon paint the whole time. When that ceiling crumbled, I shot the moon so fast.

To this day it's an iconic set piece in gaming. No one will ever forget when they saw the moon and they thought "...No way, can I?" And could.

The thing that makes the moon shot so satisfying is how it slows down, and the high pitched “ding!”

JK Simmons is the best VA they could have chosen for Cave Johnson imo

This is a really great view into how writing works. An idea for the end comes up and you have to figure out some fundamental changes to the story to make it make sense

Of all the puzzles in Portal 2, this one is the one puzzle that made me feel like a genius.
