Obviously, I am exaggerating here, so no one freak out okay? This video is meant to be annoying and salty on purpose. In my opinion, that’s how fran made her video, so I made mine the same way, if not more exaggerated. I'm not linking Fran's video here cause I don't want anyone to go attack her. My opinions are my own, if you disagree, that's fine. My main issue was obviously how she did the video, a lot of you know my opinions on that. So anyway, hope you enjoyed, bye.

To sum it up, Fran is gatekeeping on how an artist should draw. She even tells artists of their respected genre to change their style completely and switch genre. Telling pop artists and cartoonists to draw in only realism or human anatomy, and telling anime artists to only draw western cartoon whilst also against certain cartoon artstyles like SU. :\

I've had instances where people tell me to make my non human characters follow "basic human anatomy." Not everything revolves around human anatomy. Like the Harpy she criticized. Fantasy creatures don't need to always follow the human construct. There are times where an artist can build their own blueprint of anatomy based on their style. If they want to go for more of a human anatomy, let them do so. If not, don't pressure them to. There are some cases where anatomy needs to be followed like joints or position in a setting, but you are not required to always use humans for references.

That's why ref sheets are a thing, for artists to follow their own anatomy.

The "anime style" is a broad spectrum of styles, something that Fran seems not to grasp. It's not just the stereotypical way "critics" like to bash people about and even then people can draw that way because it's what they want to do. People like to ridicule others for having an "anime" style. What's wrong with anime? Btw love your art!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who that Fran's video was rude af. She doesn't need to call people out, and she doesn't need to be so snarky about it. Honestly, she has no real room to talk about EVERY point she makes. She does every single one of the things she is nitpicking. We need to stop trying to attack each other and support and nurture each other instead.

This wasn't even constructive criticism, she was blatantly tearing down these kids artwork and art style that they honestly have time to grow and expand from. Yes, these kids should actually learn anatomy and know the rules before breaking them instead of hiding behind their styles for what they lack but, as I've said, they have time. Her telling them in a sarcastic way (which I mean sometimes you have to hear the truth and it can be hard) and not actually helping them with anything and making it seem like her opinion is law isn't going to make them want to improve. The funny thing is that her opinion, because that's all that video was, doesn't really matter because at the end of the day a lot of these kids are getting commissioned and paid for their work that their clients obviously like.

Although some of her points are valid, she does this in such a discouraging way and makes it seem like she has perfected anatomy and art. I just don't think it was right to say "these 12 and 15 or 16 year olds all draw the same way" when you're 12 you're still learning and discovering so many new things, and for her to ridicule them and point out so many flaws without giving proper advice or help is just not right

I would also like to point out, from the look of things, Fran did *NOT* have these artist's permission to use their work, one didn't even know their art had been used in a video

Edit: people, if the video is monetized, she's making money off other people's art. That's the problem, not the criticism part. Though I also don't agree with unsolicited criticism 99% of the time, it's the money thing that bothers me
