Yeah yeah, the recording is a bit old, so the quality of the drawing isn't amazing. Should I have warmed up before drawing these? Yes. Did I do it? No. The content of the exercise is still valid 💫🖖

The problem is a lot of people don’t realize that they can make their own art style. I tried so hard to draw in the style of both classic Walt Disney and anime and it took me a very, VERY long time that I already had an art style I was trying very hard to resist.

Now I draw how my heart tells me 😊

"Art style" is just whatever you think looks good and do semi-consistently. You pick it up from experimentation and adapting your favorite parts of art you've seen from other artists, who got theirs the same way :) I got my nose style from Loish and DrawingWiffWaffles. I do my eyes with a shine in the middle because I saw it on a dress up game once. I draw hands with big chunky thumbs because I drew a ton of hands and I just LIKED IT THAT WAY.

People sometimes think that you magically find your art style when in reality it’s something that’s developed throughout your art journey

I remember the way I’ve always found the various art styles I’ve had since I was little,
I would look at the artwork I liked most and took my favorite features from a few different styles and mashed them into my own thing.

That was my starting point and my art style nowadays has just slowly evolved past that into something else from my newer tastes and knowledge I’ve gained throughout the years lol.

These are so cool I’ve been struggling with my heads and hair and lately I’ve completely forgot how to draw for some reason thanks for this!

i found my style through basically seeing someones work i absolutely adored, and emulating it from memory. as time went on i added my own touches and other small features i had seen in other artists works.

Something people should practice too is shapes. Shapes are really important when it comes to art(btw nice vid 👍)

“Draw a front profile”
Me: already failed.

EDIT: I come to you today to tell you, after 7 months I finally figured it out. I can now draw front facing people, This is a testament to how artists are not born but made. I can finally draw hot gay men.

Best thing thats been helping me develop a style is just cherry picking things I like from people I follow and seeing what looks good and what doesn’t.

It's also important to see difference between changing art style and improving. When you're getting better at drawing your art style will aslo change and that's not a bad thing. It's also okay to change art style while improving because when you look at that drawings 1 year later you will realise that it wasn't so different actually.

Copying, copying, copying then instead of copying I tried to draw it on my own… it didn’t go too well but I kept trying and trying and I’ve had my turns but Right now I’d say my style is awesome.

"A big influence on your style will come from the artists you look up to"
ABSOLUTELY! I once took a break from drawing and watched only art videos from a single artist during that time. When I started drawing again, I was drawing like him, with a little bit of my previous style in it. I had only stopped drawing for a day or two, so his art had a huge influence on me.
