One thing I could add to this is that art style in animation is not just how you draw a character. It's also how you make it move.

In a studio environment there are character bibles you have to meticulously follow to stay on model (the expression sheets and turnarounds being part of it, both in 2D and 3D), but all acting decisions and how movement is handled can still be part of a recognizable artist's touch.

Milt Kahl's head swaggles are one the most famous examples but ticks like these are much more common in the industry than you think.

I worked in the Game Development industry as a creature designer, Most of the time the stuff you state in this video is correct the idea when designing is what style you are going for, what would the character/creature will be doing, and how do you translate that in motion or design.

This genuinely helped alot, I used to be stuck constantly making different designs of my persona, but after looking at this I tried these techniques and I figured out that my artstyle is basic (humanly proportioned) stickmen characters or bubbly cartoonish characters (like animal crossing), ty Shortcxke ❤
