Do you have an Art-style ADHD?

If your art style feels “all over the place,” embrace it—it’s a sign of growth and exploration. Here’s why:

🌟 Your references shape you:
Whenever I fall in love with an artist—like TB Choi, SamDoesArts, or Jorge Jimenez—I dive into their work. I study their techniques, take what resonates with me, and weave it into my own style.

🔄 It’s a cycle:
As I discover new artists, I repeat the process. My art evolves, sometimes looking random, but every new experiment teaches me something valuable.

💡 The takeaway:
Don’t box yourself into one style. Learning from others expands your creativity and keeps your art fresh and dynamic. Keep exploring, keep growing!

I've always called this about myself "inconsistency" and I've always hated it because I'd like to have a fixed style, but looking on the bright side, you actually learn more, although the time process is uncertain

For me I draw a lot of different art style for multiple reasons. First, I am in an art school and more precisely animation. So yeah, I won’t get to choose the style if I get in a studio, thus learning a lot of style is necessary. Second, I don’t want to get bored by one style. Third, for how much time I have or what I use. If I paint, and have not much time, I will avoid realism. If I have a few months for a simple project, then yeah, I can try something new or realism where I could make mistakes and try again. And lastly, by the subjects I am drawing. Sometimes I will have an idea in head, and only with that I can kinda guess where I will head. If I want something super dynamic and exaggerated, cartoon could be nice. If I want something more serious, a more stylised or realistic style might work better. So yeah, I just like to see throughout the year different drawings without the exact same style every time. And you can learn a lot from changing from time to time

Always loved that Punchline figure you did. And Jorge is definitely one of the absolute best in the business right now. Him and Dan Mora’s names alone are enough to get me to pick up their books regardless of who’s writing.

What advice do you have, including the steps you take to replicate an artist style? I’m always overwhelmed especially with humans since I’m not good at anatomy and I think I should return to basics before attempting to replicate the style. Though this is the part that causes me some stress. I hope this make sense, I’m not always good what conveying what I mean
