After much research and a meeting with the President of the internet, I can assure you "The Handyman" is indeed "The number one home improvement youtube channel in the entire world". Although, he may be a little OCD when laying tiles...

Just a little tip when laying tile... set the tile down close as possible to the adjacent tile then press and slide away. This keeps thinset from rising up from the joints. 👍

I love that he uses the Pythagorean theorem to check his squareness! He has my respect.

I'm a tile setter by profession and there's plenty of things you're doing differently than we do but boy am I glad to see you back buttering tile. Can't tell you how many times I've torn out showers and floors to find zero bond on the back of the tile.

*Lightbulb moment* I just figured out what those wedges are for!!! They're for keeping all the tiles at exactly the same height! I love it! Never seen THOSE before, only seen the little cross-shaped spacers. Those look amazing!

Looks like we were doing the same thing Saturday night - I'm a rookie so the irritation is still fresh in my mind of trying to get things perfect with my tiles. Even watching this video I picked up a few tips on your lay out, spacers, and technique. I shoulda waited! Great video!

Tile noob here about to yolo into a small project. The key thing I learned here was to use the grout lines as center points instead of the actual tile. Super helpful

I always center the middle of the tile in the middle of the doorway, it visually looks better, and is safer for those who are scared to walk on cracks in fear of breaking their Mother's back!

Tile guy here, I’m late to the party but, keeping the tile backs wet with at least a sponge will do wonders for your bonding-especially when laying over plywood, hardybacker, or dura-rock. Helps stop thinset from drying out fast and flashing off. Shouldn’t really need to back butter 👍

Number one YouTube channel “ In the World”
I watch 4 videos from some other channels and got so confused with what they were saying but after 2:53 into your video I got it, definitely the number one in the world.

K.I.S.S is my method. Open a box, rough layout & adjust accordingly, snap lines. No math required saves time. Never failed me.

Laid my house about 10 years ago, didn't back butter cuz was taught its not that important, multiple tiles have gotten "crunchy" after pulling some up it was obvious where there was no attachment and how little thinset actually attached. Back buttering everything now! Lol

If anyone is curious to what he says as he works just turn the speed down to 25%

What I recommend: 1. A 100lb flooring roller to set the ditra into the mortar; skim the ditra with mortar and let set up - semi-filling the recesses - which creates a relatively smooth and visually calmer substrate. This also eliminates the need to back-butter most tiles.
