as far as I know Sargent almost never used a pencil/charcoal drawing underneath, he was very much about making the subject emerge from paint, so you did it the master‘s way 😊

As a portraitist & street artist I didn't understand why I needed to study the masters. Now, I am interested in doing portraits in mixed media, ink, and urban sketching. But no idea how to use the different mefia together. Now I have to study the old & contemporary masters to figure it out. Great video! Subscribed 👍🏽
