People need to understand this from Alicent’s perspective. Yes she misunderstood what Viserys said but there’s more context many forget. Viserys told young Alicent that he had a dream that his son would be wearing the conqueror’s crown. That’s what she was thinking about when he was talking about the prince that was promised. A separate dream unrelated to the Song of Ice and Fire.

Alicent : Wait was he talking about Aegon his son, or Aegon the Conqueror?

Rhaenyra : Aegon the Conqueror of Course!!

Alicent : 👁👄👁 *FUCK*

Rhaenyra : 👁👄👁 *FUCK*

This scene was extremely specious and asinine at best--but Olivia Cooke and Emma d'Arcy appeared both absolutely radiant in this scene. Illuminated by the flickering amber incandescene of the candles, eyes glistening with emotion, etc.

This is the Green version of Rhaenys not saying "Dracyras"

Not many people would declare for Daemond after Jaehyras, and not many people would declare for Jace as he is obviously a bastard.

Everyone is so worried about a war, but they won't take the opportunity to end it.

This is hilarious. After what's happened, they take a scene to do this? lmao

In the episode few second before this scene i heard Serbian orthodox chanting "Gospodi pomiluj" a few times. What Serbian orthodoxy has to do with fictional world Targeryens and the Dragons and all that staff?

This scene *might* have worked near the end of season one immediately after the coronation. Lucerys is dead, blood and cheese happened, and there's been first blood spilt in the riverlands.

This would absolutely *not* be happening right now.

This scene made no sense and honestly it feels like the writers have been told just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks

This among many absurd scenes that just have no point. Rhaenyra is so stupid. So so so stupid. This is so absurd that she did this.

I never thought Alicent really believed that prophecy stuff she already wanted her boy on the throne and used his words to justify it in her mind

I'm surprised at the number of people that think that this scene makes any sense.

That it makes sense for a rival queen to sneak into the enemy's lair, unprotected, with Absolutely NO leverage or no plan of escape.

To have a chatty conversation with her ex best friend, after all that's happened.

What her hell are her council doing, permitting her to do this journey?

And if she didn't tell her council, then she is incompetent, impulsive and stupid.

She was vulnerable to attack on Dragonstone..so what did the writers do to make her seem safer and more secure?? They snuck her right into the most secure enemy base, without any effing plan or protection.

Wtf wtf wtf!! HBO?? What are you guys

Why are you ruining this series like you did GOT?

Ppl need to call this nonsense out. Before this ends up like another season 8.

The Daemon scene of dodging a 10000s of arrows and fighting an entire army, was bad enough itself.

Just shameful HBO.

They suspended reality in this scene. I find this even worse than Daemon taking on an entire army and doging 1000s of arrows.
How could they show the heir to the throne embarking to kings landing, the heart of her enemies base camp, to have a candid conversation, with Absolutely no protection or invading force. Man the sheer stupidity.

They are deviating far from the books, just to make her seem like some moral, upright strong female character.

How would her advisors and court even permit her to visit Kings landing? What kind of shit counsel are they giving?
How did no gold cloak in the city watch recognise her face? Wtf was her plan if she got caught? The dance of dragons would end right her.

It is absolutely zero strategic or tactical sense to do any of this. It makes her look pathetic and incompetent as a leader, acting on stupid impulse.

Even alicent pointed out how stupid her plan of coming was. Were the writers high when they wrote this scene???

Reunites, not meets. They’ve already met.
