Using SSH keys with Github

In this video we setup SSH keys to connect to Github to use git commands. This will allow us to use 2 factor auth and it also will stop VScode from asking for username and passwords periodically.

Want to see our video on setting up your environment with git and node?

Just want the link to install Git?

Here is our most popular video on how to use VScode with Github.

Here are the links for the tutorials we followed in the video.

Thank you!

The tutorial i was given wasn't nearly as descriptive as yours. Maybe I should be taking classes from you! XD

Thanks for the video, it covers almost all scenarios one might face while setting up ssh for Github

Loved the last 3 minutes - "here is a common issue you might face with "known hosts" and here's how to fix that too". Great stuff

Just an advice you could give a zoom on the pages you showing in the video, because I have a 15.6 inch screen and it's a little bit hard to read what is in the video, even in the high resolution, or you could use a magnifying glass as an app or extension! :)

This was super, super helpful! Thank you! I failed to set the remote to the SSH remote (attempting to push to the HTTPS one) which resulted in GitHub still prompting me for creds, this video helped me diagnose the issue.

I have windows 11 on my laptop. ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa
just hangs with no response. id_rsa is the correct folder too. I just looked and there is a pub file in it - regardless of not responding. I just ctrl-c out to do next command. I just tried the github directions for ssh and it is now writing. Thank you.

Thanks a lot. I missed the step adding the key to ssh-agent. I was Reaaly struggling. Now working like a charm!! By the way, your internet speed is almost instant!! Lucky, I hope to get yours 😉

I am here because I got a weird "error: RPC failed; curl 18 transfer closed with outstanding read data remaining" when I tried to push code on a laptop with windows 11 recently installed . trying to learn to push using ssh instead of http to avoid the error, if possible

Music at @1:26 was ridiculously loud, horribly edited, for a second I thought I'd contracted some malware that suddenly started playing in the background! What are you doing! I pissed my pants and the neighbors baby woke up!
