Scholz : peace is no longer be taken for granted but to defend for. The greater are the threats from the outside, the more we should join forces in NATO. This saying greatly applies to ASEAN and the unity of South East Asia.

Low-income subsidies for fuel is Korporate welfare for Big Oil, that claim helplessness in price increases... regardless of global record profits.

Honestly, if Germany really wanted to diversify their energy policy, they could switch to wind power quite easily. There’s so much hot air come out of the German parliament, it’s an endless supply of free energy….

3 months after the beginning of Putins annihilation of Ukraine, it's very hard to appreciate or understand the point of the ongoing 'epic speeches' from leading nations.
..To listen to accompanied applause for clever word formulations and verbal empathy.
...To see the back patting pride taken as grand announcements (often read like a shopping list -yes, I listened to one here in Australia and cringed) of national contributions to "help the Ukrainian people fight and win" an unnecessary war that no-one wants in their own country, let alone on their doorstep.
And I'm ashamed to wake up feeling safe every day.

....I imagine the many Ukrainian people trapped in the path/middle, /edge or aftermath of war zones where nowhere feels safe, grieving their loved ones, running from one shelter to the next tripping over fallen neighbours and holding the hands of others as they die and the fleeing civilians who've managed to make it to a safe haven -physically if not mentally.
I imagine how alone they must feel, in spite of having a global audience, and powerful 'allies' waiting across the border to welcome them with open arms as soon as they can tame the untameable Hydra no-one else wants to face.

That Putin's regime is still taking lives and sanity on both sides of the border, in spite of hourly broadcasted acknowledgements that it's indefensible/illegal/immoral/criminal, then they're being enabled, and supported in the destruction of Ukraine.
The clever speeches are just verbal self gratification and media fodder $$$ at this point, probably a form of temporary national sedation too so citizens see their country 'doing their best' to help.
I'm not focusing on Germany or Mr Scholz, his speech is as clever and helpful as the ones before and the ones to come.

So petty for the opposition not to clap.

I am satisfied with Chancellor Scholz's speech. Germany needs to play a more central role in this war and Chancellor Scholz needs to lead given the current circumstances. All in all, a very promising and solid address. Greetings from Greece!

I’m sorry but there is absolutely no reason to be that slow, i do appreciate the humanitarian aide on behalf of Ukrainians but i would say it would be a good idea to try to speed up the delivery of whatever aide you have decided to introduce.

Note; EU Charter also includes a "mutual defense clause"; rendering the Turkish anti-NATO drama moot? Does that also increase the gravitas of French nukes?

At last a non naïve Germany realises its errors and steps forward as a useful, loyal ally in defence of decency.

Always good to see Olaf come out from under his desk to say nothing much.
