I like how it goes normal chair, normal chair, and then Alan Moore has like a throne.

Alan is unbelievable. Always esoteric yet practical.

I have been on the same chapter for 8 months. Rewritten for more than a 1 million words worth and counting. That's all I've been doing, my sole work, haven't really talked with another human being in 6 months. And after 12 years of writing. God have mercy.

I had to learn to slow down...way down...literally focus on one small thing at a time. And that snowballed to getting more done quicker. It's weird but works. I like that meditation workbook called 30 Days to Overcome Procrastination by Corin Devaso.

If you have a block do something else! Get a job to earn money. And also to gain the new experiences your imagination needs. It isn't a tragedy not to write. There is a glut of books on the market, but not of original ideas. Get some out there in the real world!

It's the application of chair to keyboard and fingers to...oh wait

None of these people understand that procrastination comes from fear. Until you work out where the fear comes from, you will struggle to overcome the block.

I really needed to hear these words. I’ve been struggling with a mix between procrastinating and writers block since before Covid hit. At first I thought it was my migraine medication, because the flow and connections and the words just stopped coming. Then I thought maybe it was anxiety from the news or social media… I’ve since cut myself off from all of those external emotional distractions that just kill creativity, but I was still struggling. I really don’t know what it is, it could be everything they just said. But I really miss writing and as a discovery writer it was a thrill when the subconscious connections were made within the story that I hadn’t even realized until I reread it. I’m several books in to a fantasy series. I know where it’s going and I’m excited to get there. I just need to get into that chair and start connecting those dots no matter how many times I have to backspace over the terrible sentences that need to be purged first. This came to me when I really needed it. Thank you ☺️
