How to fix Chevy Silverado driveshaft clunk

I've had to drop the drive shaft twice now to re grease the slip yoke to stop the "clunk" that so many Chevy owners have had trouble with. So far it has lasted about 3000-4000 miles between re greasing.

My former truck had the same issue - 2007 Silverado 1500. Yes, the problem has been around for a while. TSBs (tech service bulletin) were finally issued, but I don't know about a recall. The stealership tried the grease approach at first and it helped a little. The next step was to replace the yoke. Luckily, my vehicle was still under warranty and this was covered. Problem solved. The plating was incomplete or inadequate from the manufacturer on the splines and a binding/sticking occurs when the shaft finally slips with a thump. From what I can see by the forums and comments online from people looking for an answer, a TON of Ford and GM trucks experienced the problem.

I have the same issue with my truck and have looked up many videos and they all say "FIXED" this isn't fixed this is bandaged. When I do my truck this coming months I will do a full how to video to actually fix the issue which is a new slip yoke. Very informative video. But if you'd like it to last longer I use transmission fluid and it last about 10k

Seen a guy put a 3" long compression spring into the slip yoke with fresh grease. Said it worked?

I have a 2012 Silverado ltz and every time i come to a stop there's this clunk sound right before stopping completely. It sounds like it's coming from under the cab of the truck. I've had a hard time finding anything on here about this cluck underneath the cab. Most of the videos are about a clunking sound coming from the rear of the truck. Did yours do the same way?

The propeller shaft is balanced out the the vehicle and its s one piece shaft. so it doesn't matter if you put it back at the mark or 180 degrees. Everything is still in phase

Why don’t the splines get lubricated from transmission oil??
