I kept my 30 in waist pants when I was at a 40, and I did lose the weight and am back down to a 30. They were part of my motivation.

Great advice John! I am a new subscriber. 1. Start with the closet, get rid of outdated, ill-fitting clothing. 2. Hit the gym, even if it's only once or twice a week. It will boost your overall mood and confidence. 3. Up your "shoe game". The rest will follow in suit as you find out what works for you...

Great advice. I cleaned out my closet recently and bought a pair of well fitting jeans and a pair of sneakers.
I would say learn to be very aware of proper fit.

100% agree with all of these tips. We have to stop being afraid of color. I am still trying to figure out how to pair different patterns together - not an easy task. Great video as always. Have a great week John.

Great tips John! I cleaned out 5 trash bags full of clothes after one of your closet tips videos last year. Got all new tapered slacks, chinos, jeans, New boots, sneakers, dress shoes, and all shirts in a variety of colors. My closet is thinned out and color coordinated. I shopped the rack stores and capitalized on holiday website sales all at a minimum cost. At 43 my style game is on point.

I have worn my hair in a buzz cut for years now. Due to circumstances, I let it start growing and added a part (haven’t done that since the eighties!). I like how it is going so far!

Great advice; thank you. I especially liked the suggestion of making small, gradual changes; it doesn’t all need to be done at once.

This advice comes at just about the right time. It's as if you read my mind and answered every doubt I had about starting my own style. Thank you.

I think the first step is to have a serious conversation about your habitat. If you live in the city what will be stylish is very different from if you live rurally. There is one more than one way to be stylish, and it is as important to find one that "fits" as having clothes that fit.

Great Channel! I would like to see some tips for those of us that are not as fit like you. Tucking in a shirt and keeping it smooth against the body does not work for me...I need to make the shirt a bit loose and not so snug...some tips for us with bellies...LOL

John you are the reason why I started to dress well. Winter season is the best time, we have lots of options to wear.

On point as per usual. I too started off slow in my late to mid 30's, I went through a stage were I kept wearing the same style of clothing, like Sneakers, Cargopants, Hoodies etc pretty much the same style of clothes since my 20's. Out of the blue I got chatting to a old Uni friend, who got the old gang together and arranged a meet up for a drink to catch up, they arrived looking like a million bucks while I looked a scruffy mess. After a good look in the mirror and realised that I had become a slob and decided after that to make the change and a real effort, not only to be more stylish but be better put together. First of I swapped out a number of items like sneakers for chukka Boots, cargopants for well fitting Jeans, T-Shirt for a Fred Perry Polo and the hoodie for a more stylish coat like a Harrington, my ancient G-Shock for a Seiko 5 on a brown leather strap (Cheap but looks the part), just those few items, made all the difference. After about 6 months I got more accustomed to dressing better, I'd add more smart casual to formal items like a better looking dress watch, a pair of brown brogues, a button down shirt with a tweed sports jacket and It didn't feel like I was overdoing it, as If I turned upto work wearing brogues and a sports jacket a year before, without making that gradual change, i'd probably wouldn't be comfortable being that bold right off the bat. It was only people that I hadn't seen in over a year that would notice the change.

The only thing missing from me is a pair of sneakers, I've got the other bases covered; and still learning how to combine colors. I even bought a color wheel to help me.
