Your anxiety isn’t “you”. The voice inside blaming you isn’t “you”. Sometimes it might seem unbearable trying to fight it. It gets easier. Just focus on building character through kindness, hard work and honesty. This will nurture your self respect. The real “you” loves you, as it should.

I went to a psychologist last month...This is basically the advice she gave me, to get rid of that fear that doesn't let you act.
Try to get good at something, fail while you do it, those small victories will build your confidence and will inspire you to be better.

I learned self destruction in Fight Club. I thought fight club is physical destruction but it was actually mental and spiritual.

I had a partner who was my primary source of self esteem. She really struggled in life, and took so much from me, but I was there to please her, like I pleased my parents. I left her four months ago, and it was easily the scariest thing I’ve ever done. Yet in the destruction, I have myself. I trust myself. For maybe the first time in my life.

Two months ago I left my job, a job I didn't think I would quit because I was too scared to, but I did it and it was the best decision I made. I'm enjoying my new job and whilst I don't see myself doing that for the rest of my life it's a start for me to do better, grow as a person and self improve.

One of the biggest things is to plan out confronting your fears however, the thing isn't to just confront the fear full and hopefully win, but to make sure that you are chipping away at it over time by making the fear less powerful.

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

I started dieting again back in January, this time wasn't going to be like the other 9 times I tried to lose weight. This was going to be the one, and I failed my diet after 2 days... I literally had a mental breakdown I was so disgusted with myself but I needed that to be able to actually make a change. 4 months on, I'm down 45 pounds and half way to my goal.

Not sure if "self-destruction" would be the best way to refer to it, but definitely facing your fears, including the fear of becoming someone you will regret.

Not until I learned to - Be comfortable being uncomfortable - that my life got a significant boost in quality and enjoyment.

That means, doing something I was really afraid of, taking initiative, putting myself in spots that before I would avoid like the plague. Once I learned that I would survive it, that I would improve and reach a new limit with it, I had nothing else to fear anymore.

I needed this concept of "self destruction" because two years ago I messed up a public speaking even though I am a speaker and would sing in school and college. It has held me back from the last two years and all my achievements were overshadowed because of this event and I felt like a total loser. Today, I feel motivated and since its my last year of university, I will again gather myself and partake in public speaking ♥

This is just a brief 3 minutes and 18 seconds of a video but every second is very helpful. I will not be afraid to fail. Failures are stepping stones to success is what I got from this video essay. Thank you!
