PeppermintOS 11 Linux 2023

Peppermint has migrated into its own continuous delivery OS, based on the Debian/Devuan repositories. Giving you the option to pull from testing if you like and we believe this will appeal to new and experienced Linux users. Peppermint comes with nearly nothing installed other than, the core packages needed to run the system and you have the choice to which packages should best fit your build. The desktop environment is xfce with the nemo file manager set as default.

I just found your channel again after missing you for a year or so. I originally switched from Windows to Peppermint OS about 3 versions back and currently running Pep 10. I really didn't care for the new Peppermint, so I'm getting ready to update and will likely move to MX-23. I was glad to see you too have moved to MX-23 so I feel more comfortable in making the switch. I'm so sorry to hear that you had a stroke. Hopefully you didn't take the JAB because that is one of the side effects along with lots of other blood and heart issues. Anyway, Hope your recovering and getting along and able to be back on YouTube again. Thanks for all of your prior help and inspiration for new Linux Users. I'll never go back to WinBlows.

YES-- SPARKY- I've had Sparky for a good while now and NEVER EVER had any issues with it-- the ONLY distro I ever had that has ZERO issues. It's VERY fast-- stable- and beautiful (I use kde).. and I've had Peppermint before- it's NOT that complicated-- I just wasn't fond of xfce-- but if it's really customizable-- I may reconsider it.

WTF! I thought you left you tube @English Bob🤔 Although not a fan of the games anymore, I missed you because I liked your honesty and your great sense of humor.

Hello, Bob. Did that icon theme come as standard or did you install it?

I am really jazzed about Peppermint/Devuan.

People think having a bunch of software they don't use on their computer is no big deal but, from my perspective, it's like a hornets' nest. If you don't USE software, that doesn't mean you don't have to maintain or watch it. You can't just let it sit there because it might not BE just sitting there.

Software developers are no different than Google or Microsoft. They stuff code in millions of computers, everyday, and they're...well...people - just like Google and Microsoft are people - and they're every bit as money hungry. And when you add the state-actors to the hacker/developer base - it's just mind boggling. All they have to do is get a job writing code for somebody. People who can leave a user sleeping in your computer and then snoop or just use it when you're sleeping to do whatever they want. Millions of computers that can add up to outrageous resources. It's like a Swiss Army knife for state-sponsored hacking.

Developers, hackers, IT people, crackers, governments, activist/political groups and all sorts of people who want what you have. Whether it's access to something bigger than you, your money/credit/identification, blueprints, processing power, your personal information or just...whatever.

Linux has become a tool for such people and a playground for whiny brats/bigots who are just happy to ruin somebody's day, every chance they get. It's like that whole sociopolitical circus, all wrapped up in your computer. Unless you're aware of what drama queen shenanigans look like and are paying attention...

Peppermint was the first Linux distro which I ever tried. Truly loved it! Blazing fast and lots of features.

Now I am using Debian. I really like the simplicity and uniformity of GNOME.

I started using Linux in February 2022. This was my first distribution. I really liked it. Beautiful theme. However, I switched over to Debian Xfce on which Peppermint is based because I was concerned about Peppermint taking from stable and testing repositories.

I don't wanna be "that guy", but I feel like I need to say this: Don't go with Google Chrome. I mean, unless you don't care at all about privacy. Firefox, Chromuim, or Vivaldi are better for privacy, and if you're a little more paranoid, there's Waterfox, Librewolf, or Brave. If you're REALLY paranoid, there's also Tor.

Moreover, Chrome is a downright weird recommendation if you're looking for something lightweight to use on older hardware.
