I ADORE the simplicity of the AR-style barrel attachment! I'm building an HK G3 parts kit and the amount of welding and hand-fitting and adjusting is ridiculous from a design perspective.

You can carry this partially assembled without the barrel in your vehicle (in the glovebox, under the seat, in the center console, etc) and the police cannot confiscate it nor charge you with any firearm violations such as having a concealed weapon, since it cannot be fired without the barrel attached and cannot be counted as a functional firearm without the barrel attached.
