Def go with Godot, not only because it's free, but it is open-source and community funded. It is probably gonna become the linux of game engines.

The video is informative but the music is... repetitive. To say the least. And that comes from soneone who enjoys 8 and 16 bit game music normally. Why not switch it up a bit, i kind of felt like my ears were bleeding a bit after having watched it to the end.

I am learning Unreal right now. It's a difficult and overwelming engine but it really helps to have a big community. There are alot of tutorials out there that cover pretty much anything.

Cryengine is also free to some point. In the beginning it has a pay what you want model and then when you make somewhat good money they want some.

With new Unreal Studio and Datasmith plugins Unreal Engine will be the most realistic engine in a few years. Because of cross industry specialists like architects and interior designers who now on their way to VR and etc. They will bring a new breath of realistic scale, space, materials in a new generation projects.

I'm still doing research so I haven't decided what I'm going to use yet. What I want is to make visual novels with upwords of 500K words, 3D graphics, and 3D environments. I haven't found anything that does what I want yet. I'll likely end up having to roll my own solution so I'm looking at different frameworks right now to see what options are out there.
