I'm a person of color and there just isn't that many people of color performing or creating to the caliber of deserving these awards with the exception of people like Denzel, Halle berry, will Smith, Jamie Fox, gaborey sibedey, Alfonso cuaron, Innaritu, . Working hard isn't enough, your product has to be good - outstanding. can't just diversify for the sake of diversifying - step it up. or just set your own standards and create your own award ceremony and stop striving to achieve a caliber you believe isn't fair. also get noticed at Sundance first before complaining your works arent recognized by Hollywood.

Anthony Lucero, your movie East Side Sushi was not turned down because big time production companies didn't want to cast people of ethnicity. That's insulting to an entire industry that has reputably produced countless classic cinema. I watched all of East Side Sushi and other than it being good enough to be on the Hallmark Channel there is ample reason for it not to be budgeted for the big screen. It was fine to watch all the way through but It had bad to mediocre acting, mediocre to cliche story development, and mediocre cinematography. How do you think it would compete against something like Birdman? What merits it to be backed by a big production company - just because of an ethnically inclusive cast? Because it had a unique, ethnic spin on the trials of a rising chef? That's not all it takes. First have a complete product worth competing then you can make a claim that there is something fishy in the industry if it doesn't go your way.
