Nintendo Drops Major Game Reveals And Bad News Hits Xbox + Game Pass | News Wave

Nintendo had their big general Direct yesterday with a bunch of surprises in store for fans. Microsoft has been rolling since their showcase a couple weeks ago, but it looks like prices are about to go up for not just their hardware but also their subscription service.

Direct was a hit with me. I didn’t expect to buy a lot of games for the Switch this year but here I am.

Regarding the MGS Master Collection physical, this is exactly the kind of crap companies pull that results in lower sales of the physical version, which then said companies will point to and say, "See, people prefer digital versions!"

It's not as if they couldn't put everything (except those 30GB of "bonus videos") on a 32GB card. Even if this meant a slightly more expensive Switch physical version, I believe people who buy physical would not mind, while people who don't buy physical wouldn't matter anyway.

This makes me wonder if the other physical versions (e.g. PS4 or PS5) will have everything on the disc.

Xbox was real quick to jump on Sony during Sony’s price hike announcement last year then turn around and hit their users with their own price increase. These corporations are not your friend.

The Princess Peach is very clearly based around a theatre performance. Peach is shown running around a stage with a set and props, and she transforms when she steps on a pedestal thingy on the stage.

The way physical versions of games are now being done dirty is disgusting. Here…a cartridge and you have to download 98% of the game. It’s obviously to curb selling the game used later and super greasy. You will own nothing and you will love it!

The Nintendo Direct yesterday was overall pretty solid. Especially if you are a Mario fan. While I don’t expect too much from the Sonic Central, I would at least assume we’re getting more info on Sonic Superstars and Sonic Frontiers’ Wave 2 (and maybe Wave 3) DLC.

Pikmin 1 and 2 coming to the Switch was a nice surprise. But what really caught by surprise is the announcement of Super Mario RPG remake. I seriously can't for that game.

Across the Spiderverse and Mario Movie were two of the most successful animations this year. Now the 2D Mario game and Spiderman 2 will also release on the same day. Crazy.

What relieves me the most about the Direct is that they showed so many Mario games to capitalize on the movie hype, but that doesn't mean other franchises aren't being worked on. We will probably have more Metroid Prime Remastered situations with little time between reveal and release
