I haven't seen many people bring this up so I thought I'd make a super quick graphics comparison between Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal running on a ps4 Pro.

The biggest difference I saw was the font size.

You can adjust the camera with the D-Pad. That’s why it looks like a different angle in Royal.

1:14 thats more than the textures, those bushes are completely different on the right.

I think the reason the graphics are better is because the original was meant for PS3 and the new version is meant to take advantage of the Ps4

I've been scouring the net for something like this. I THOUGHT i noticed some texture updates to some clothes and saturation/texture differences in the world but I didnt know if it was just me justifying the 50 bucks i spent on this game or not.

I just got the original for like 7 bucks just to try it out but fell in love with the game. I'm at the 3rd palace and really regret not just splurging for Royal, had no idea it had all of these improvements. Bummer.

I've been doing my darndest to find where royal changes its graphics. It's been tough. I've been playing the game a while now and didn't really notice a difference. That said i hadn't played since the original's release. So it's good to have a video like this. Would you mind making another such visual comparison shot of specifically the school (inside), inside a dungeon and such with the same camera distance? From what i've gathered from this and other videos, the graphics update isn't that notable, though there are some proper improvements. The ceiling at the train station for example at 0:43 is a huge improvement. But at the same time, some other updates are just... horizontal. Like outside the train station the floor tiles switch around between being placed horizontally and vertically between p5/p5R and p5S. The actual texture quality seems identical. That one is just... i don't even know why they bothered.

In pretty much all shots Royal looks much better than the original, though from what i can see theres not much difference in textures or details, the biggest change i see being in the crowds of people not being silluetes further away. It only looks much nicer on Royal because it's a pretty afternoon with nicer contrasting lights vs a bright sunday morning.
EDIT: I see this was uploaded on April 1st. Was this an april fools joke?

I’ve played both now, and the biggest difference is the sharpness and the more contrasted and detailed textures. P5 vanilla has great image quality overall with 1080p though, and the benefit of 4K is diminished by the low detail geometry. I would say the overall graphics quality is improved by about 20% in royal.

Royal seems to have added a neat ambient occlusion effect as well as higher resolution textures, it does looks nicer, but it could be better.

I could use some help. I'm currently playing the original P5 for ps4, and I'm on the second palace. I would've gotten royal, but I thought it was a sequel. Can someone tell me the difference between royal and the original, and if I should trade in P5 and start royal?

So Royal does look much better. But what’s with the shadows being removed from vanilla to royal?
