Anakin gave C-3P0 to Padme and Padme gave R2 to Anakin. They were like their wedding rings because they couldn’t rings so they gave their droids

I always loved Anakin and R2D2's friendship. They work so well together and actually get stuff done. Their banter is funny because it's kinda like arguing with yourself.

If I remember correctly, in The Clone Wars show Anakin deliberately never wiped R2D2 memory. Obi-Wan was mad that he didn't do that but Anakin didn't giveca shit.
Also I HATED how Mace Windu treated RDR2 as a thing and had zero faith that R2 would save him and Anakin.

Curiously, of all Anakin's grandchildren, R2 had the strongest bond with Anakin Solo, the two sharing many adventures. I can't even imagine what R2 felt when he lost both Anakin.

There's even a episode in clone wars when r2 gets kidnapped and anakin says he's unreplaceabled 😢

*Fun fact:* Even though Anakin's knighthood in Legends happened months before the war ended, the contradictions caused by the TCW program before decanonization forced the writers to reestablish that all of Anakin's military missions as a Padawan occurred during the first weeks of the war, which makes no sense at all.

R2-D2 has been a faithful friend to two generations of Skywalkers (more than that in Legends) & of course C-3PO (even though the two often bicker they both still care about each other)!

Anakin lost many people in his life. Because of this, their friendship bond was very strong. R2D2 knew more about Anakin than anyone else. R2D2 was extremely loyal to Anakin.
