I'm pretty sure Rex thinks Anakin died in order 66, and honestly, for Rex's sake, I hope it stays that way. We already say how Ahsoka reacted to learning the truth and Obi Wan certainly didn't take it well either. Can you imagine Rex's heartbreak when/if he learns one of his closest, most respected friends went crazy and became a mass murderer? I certainly don't!

The moment Rex was revealed, and he talked about his memories of Anakin’s. I got so emotional. Out of all the troopers. Rex was my favorite. He was a good, and honorable man..and the moment they said they were gonna help Kenan, and Ezra escape I couldn’t stop crying. Thankfully they survived.

Legitimately Anakin's best friend. Yeah, you could say Obi Wan was, too. But, they had one really heated argument, and neither of them really recovered from it. Especially Anakin.
