I think what I appreciate about their story the most, is the balanced portrayal of both women and men in a loving and real relationship. I love that Aragorn can also show his emotional and weak side, and his need for his woman to support him! It is so wrong for hollywood to continue feeding the lie that the woman is always emotional and the man is always strong. A real relationship is a team, with a united goal and love. It's just the best, that they uplift one another and meet each others needs completely, to live that life together.

One of the best changes Peter Jackson made in these movies was giving more attention to Arwen. While the lore of Arwen choosing to die with Aragorn over immortality is incredibly powerful, the actual relationship between Aragorn and Arwen is barely explored in the book. In the movies we see both Aragorn and Arwen’s perspective as they both long for each other but believe they will never see each other again. I also love how while Aragorn is one of the main characters of the trilogy, most of their romance scenes are from the perspective of Arwen, allowing her character to be explored in greater depth in spite of her relatively low screen time.
