Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Mike and Nacho have always been consummately professional career criminals who've worked well as professional acquaintances, even when they're on opposing sides. They're not exactly what you'd call close friends, but there's an understated sense of camaraderie to their relationship that makes them concerned enough for each other's well-being way beyond the call of "the game" and their respective bosses (especially on Mike's side as Nacho gets more and more trapped in the crossfire of Gus' war with the Salamancas and the Cartel). That little nod they shared is practically the very first acknowledgement of that camaraderie, and I think it just hit Mike that that little gesture would be the last time they'd ever interact again.

Funny that literally everyone in this scene has plot armor even mike at that distance but they still made a tragic ending for Nacho

It makes sense why Mike was so harsh on Jesse in BB. Jesse reminded Mike too much of Nacho and didn't want Jesse to go out like Nacho.

I love that little shot of Mike and Nacho in the back of the truck, really reminds me of him and Werner. It holds the same kind of heartbreak, too, even if the former moreso on a rewatch.

I wonder if Victor really would have killed Nacho in the original plan. I didn't get the sense that Victor particularly liked Nacho, I wouldn't put it past him to only wound Nacho and give him over to the Salamancas as one last "F you".

If only Ignacio actually ran away and lived. The actor Michael Mando is phenomenal. I hope he returns to play the Scorpion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
