Climate change science 1900-1960
Показать описание
The science of Anthropogenic Global Warming is well over 150 years old. In fact by the end of the nineteenth century, the primary mechanisms of how global warming could occur, and specifically how humans would contribute to it, were already understood and had been verified both experimentally and through scientific observation.
For most of that time the underlying science was accepted as valid and completely uncontroversial, even though most scientists believed it would take many centuries for human activity to have any influence on the climate. Significantly, it was not until the 1970s that lobby groups started claiming the actual science was flawed.
This is not a defense of the scientific consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW). For a comprehensive scientific justification of that consensus, see the links in the description. This is a historical overview of how the current scientific consensus developed over time.
