I am always amazed how squeaky clean you always get engine parts 🥰

I just cleaned mine with oven cleaner. 1 can did the whole set, cost me $4. scrubbed with toothbrush and scotchbrite. Took about an hour and half to remove carbon and buff. Used latex gloves of course.

Does submerging the wrist pin affect that at all? Do I need to relubricate that?

Thanks for the tip! I've never used the big cans of that stuff.

Did you replace the rings. I’m doing a refresh on my engine wondering if I can get away with using old rings. Motor ran great but timing chain needed replaced so just tore down motor to double check things

Hi there, I’ve spotted this on Amazon UK & the tin looks exactly the same, but you stated that they do 2 version & they are completely different, you said one smells like nail varnish & that’s the incorrect one, but you’ve also stated that the correct one should be brown inside & have a parts number or something on the packaging to confirm it’s the right one, what’s the correct part number please that I should verify asking about before buying buying it’s an expensive tin so don’t want to purchase the wrong one if it can be avoided in the first instance, by the way cracking excellent video, clearly detailed & well explained too, I’ve just subscribed to your channel, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi Matthew,

I have a Honda civic 1.8 2012 R18 z4 engine as believe my piston oil control rings are gunged up and causing excessive oil consumption rates around 300 miles per 1 litre of oil. Any good oil cleaners that will loosen these oil control rings to help consumption without taking engine apart? I am trying the BG109 this weekend. Gonna run it from cold to operating temp then run at 1, 200rpm for 20 mins. Hope you can reply as would love to know. Compression is still very good on my engine just eating oil.

Many thanks 🙏

Chem dip is only a V slightly different formula than Laquer thinners.
