Its usually caused by unburnt fuel going into the exhaust. Or running the wrong type of fuel.

As uber driver in new york, i will say Those engines are trash. Cause many problems, they didn't tell the the car need fuel injector cleaner on every oil change.

I been using lucas oil in my gas tank and lately it's been smoothing out my drive and the misfires are going away and it drives smoother. I just keep using it

there is ( 87 - 89 - 91( -93?) octane, is all unleaded ! use 89 octane or higher if your compression is 11.5:1 or higher ! if only 9.5:1 to 10.5 use 89 octane. use 91 or higher once a month give or take before this happens and still use gas treatment once a month ! I do this ! If this had already happened. I would pull the head. Back in the day/muscle car era we didn't have this problem! why ? 110 octane, lead in gas.

Time for a hotter plug and better fuel.

I suggest oil catch can, a good one with baffles. I have one on my car it helps with carbon a lot. It won't remove 100% of oil but it will stop most of it. Ran 100k on a catch can and still no issues.

I believe I’m due for a carbon cleaning, can you elaborate on any other symptoms besides misfire that the car will experience?

Right now I have a slight misfire and the smell of a bad cat converter or is it my valve stem seal causing the stinky smell?
