The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro have been out and available for over three months, so I thought it was time to put them up against each other in a head-to-head comparison.

Great video, love the cinematic style and calm music, keep going Sam!

Yo! you need to have your whole thumb on the fingerprint sensor, not just the tip. I have 99% hit rate.

I like the smaller screen size of the regular Pixel8, the matt sides and the colors of the phone. But 8 Pro has the telephoto camera and I like to shoot with it and the matt back.

Telephoto lenses are different gravy imo.

I was recently in a coldplay concert and whilst I took awesome photos and videos on my iphone 13, damn I missed having a telephoto lens. My friend on the other hand had an iphone 15 pro max and he took brilliant pics from his seat, that was far away from where Chris Martin was performing.

I just ordered the pixel 8. I had the 4a5g and no longer get security updates as of November. The 8 was discounted about $150 so I figured it was a good time to trade up. The pixel 8 pro, even discounted was going to run over 900 (for 256g) and the extra features didn’t seem worth paying almost 350 more, at least for my uses. I figure I will pay less and then see what the 9 or 10 offers.

I only had issues with fingerprint sensor for the first few weeks. After December update all the issues are gone and I don't think I had an issue with unlocking for more than a month now.

I never had an issue with the finger print scanner with my P8P. I recently switched to iOS with iPhone 15 Pro; I usually do so every 3 to 4 years for a year or so..man I miss my P8P :(

Pretty good video except for when you are purposely trying to make the fingerprint fail by using the tip of your finger or when lifting your finger extremely fast. In reality, it rarely fails, as long as you hold your fingerprint (not finger tip) until it unlocks (which admitely it's a bit longer than other flagships).

Really good video and as a Reg Pixel 8 owner I would say it's better to get the Pixel 8 pro for the battery life . The reg 8 is just ok it's doable most days but you start to wonder if your going to make it if you have a long day.

Just got a refurbished 7 Pro for around $250 and on Android 14, it's amazing!

I've had this phone since day 1. I still prefer pixel over Apple or Samsung

Pixel 8 is the best Android, perfect for one handed use!

The pixel 8 and 8 pro have a screen size of 6.17" and 6.7" respectively, not 5.93" and 6.4".

I'm normally a small phone guy so I bought the regular 8. But I didn't like it. Battery life was terrible and the other than that stood out to me was the build quality was rough. The edges on pieces felt either rough or like they didn't line up well. Just felt unrefined. I never had that bother me before as much as it did on a phone before.

But I went to the 8 pro. Love it. Never looking back. I couldn't be happier with it.

In googles marketing of Tensor, they made it seem that Pixel’s AI features are capable because of said Tensor custom chip, but after seeing Samsung on their new S24 with the 8 Gen 3 being able to do most if not all the same capabilities then it startles me.

Just as you said, Tensor is a midrange chipset and thus the 8 series are incredibly overpriced.

I only have one issue with the Pro. It's to big. I prefer a more pocket and one hand friendly phone. If I could have the Pro at the same size as the regular 8 I would buy it asap.

I'm pretty sure what's happening with video boost is that it's actually producing two separate videos files simultaneously and is therefore limited as to the quality of the file that's immediately available. It's either that, or it's capturing the one very high bit-rate file that's used for the boosted version, and downscaling it in near real time which seems very unlikely. I vaguely remember reading that this was the reason it was limited to the main sensor (Samsung GNK) as it's specially designed to be able to capture two files at the same time.
