This Mahabharata is the GOAT and no other Mahabharata made after will outshine the glamour of this one.
Starting from the casting of actors, their acting, sets, direction, cinematography, costumes, background score to the shudh-Hindi screenplay, everything was par excellence.
Watching it during the Pandemic was one-of-a-kind experience.

I heard about this show from my parents....It is really a hallmark of it's age.

In my school days I watched Mahabharat serial many times on Star Utsav TV channel.
During lockdown the Mahabharata show was telecasted on DD Bharati.
4 years after the lockdown the iconic Mahabharat show was again telecasted on Doordarshan national channel ( where the serial was aired for the first time)
This year ( on 2nd October 2024) the iconic Mahabharata serial completed 36 years

This Mahabharat is perfect like I cannot even imagine of another casts like if I imagine ShriKrishna I only see them as this Shri Krishna and if I imagine Arjun I see this Arjun....so this is not just a show but it's an emotion that every one feels and during the lockdown it was our best friend and its perfect no one can beat this show..No Mahabharat can replace this!!

Mahabharat and Ramayan and japanese version remained epic till this day because story telling was rooted in Indian ethos ..they were not trying to emulate the game of thrones or star wars which has different essence and theme

Maharashtra is actually more articulate in terms of social messages and complicity of life rather than Ramayana.
Ramayana seems so over rated and the character of Ram seems so unrealistic while in Maharashtra even the most intellectual characters are doing mistake, which makes it more reliable to humans than the Ramayana.

fight scene of Mahabharata was better than that of Ramayana..one of which is clear head on clash of arrows

There was another version by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi (of Chanakya fame) that looked a lot more authentic, but it was unfortunately discontinued after a while.

Draupadi's portrayal as a selfish greedy woman who is thirsting to take revenge was very wrong. She never said Andhe ka putra andha to duryodhan. Star plus did it better.
